NHTI Begins 43rd Year in Higher Education

Classes Start September 2 With New Programs
 

Concord – NHTI, Concord's Community College begins its 43rd academic year highlighted by new programs, new construction and substantial growth. Day, evening and online classes for the fall semester 2008 will start on Tuesday, September 2.

“As we've grown to include a broad array of general studies, liberal arts, and other programs into our core offering of technical programs, we've become a community college in the truest sense,” says NHTI President Lynn Kilchenstein entering her four year in the College's leadership role. “We continue to honor our history by preparing our students for immediate entry into the workforce with our technical education programs. And we increasingly assist students prepare for a 4-year university by making the entry into higher education accessible, affordable and flexible to their needs.”

Recently added associate's degree programs include visual arts, animated graphic and game design, and visual arts. New certificate programs include orthopaedic technology, public safety communications, IT applications development, and IT networking.

“We have a long tradition of preparing graduates for careers in fields for which there is a growing market demand, such as engineering technologies and nursing,” says Pamela Langley, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “These new programs all respond to marketplace demand and offer careers in fields that allow students to make living wages and meaningful contributions to society and the economy.”

NHTI also broke ground on a new 34,000-sq.-ft. Health Education and Academic Center, designed to allow the college to increase enrollment in its nursing programs. The building is expected to be ready for the fall 2009 semester.

NHTI's 10-year increase in enrollment continues. Summer enrollment was up 6.1% over last year and fall enrollment is up 4.5% compared to the same period in 2007-08. There is still time to enroll for fall courses.

NHTI, Concord's Community College, is a fully accredited, public community college serving students, businesses and the community by providing excellent academic, technical and professional education. NHTI offers 62 academic programs to more than 4,000 students. NHTI is a member of the Community College System of New Hampshire.
