Concord – Whether you design or build landscapes professionally or simply enjoy them, NHTI's new seminar series provides a holistic approach to creating healthy, sustainable landscapes. This series of three seminars helps professionals and enthusiasts alike develop the skills and confidence to create energy efficient, ecologically diverse, environmentally healthy and aesthetically pleasing landscapes in municipal, residential or commercial settings.

Authors of Integrated Landscaping: Following Nature's Lead, the instructors focus on best practices of integrated landscaping, treating each site as a system of plant and animal communities, and taking you through the cycle of the year that unveils a holistic view. Each of these non-credit seminars complements the others and can be taken as a series or alone. Topics are:

  • From the Ground Up: Laying the Foundation (February 21st) - Focuses on site assessment, including existing conditions, soil, attracting life, and care of newly established plantings.
  • Creating the Design: A Livable, Healthy and Ecologically Sound Approach (March 7th) - How to create an aesthetically pleasing and functional landscape that is also low maintenance and environmentally sound, using concepts that work in nature.
  • Making the Design a Reality: Putting your Ideas to Work (March 28th) - Make the design a reality, covering topics such as choosing plants to create plant systems, creating diverse habitats, working with natural succession, proper plant installation, and seasonal care.

Each seminar is held at NHTI from 9 a.m. to noon and costs $49. Or take all three for $125. To register or learn more call (603) 271-6663 or contact NHTI at nhtibtc@ccsnh.edu.
